Loan services

Books in the information centre (building A) and information center (building Z) are intended for on-site study, we will lend you this fund home only for weekend and over night. These weekend loans are made on Friday from 4 p.m., titles borrowed must be returned on following Monday in one hour after opening , i.e. till 9 a.m. Over night loans are made every day from 5 p.m., titles must be returned on following day in one hour afetr opening. Borrowing of books for one month provides the Central library.

Textbooks in the study room are borrowed for one week or over weekend. You can lend textbooks from study room over the weekend even if they have orange sign. These weekend loans are made on Friday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., textbooks must be returned on following Monday till 9 a.m.. Textbooks from the Central library are borrowed for whole semester.

Journals and newspapers in the magazine reading room are intended for on-site loans only.

Bachelor and diploma theses in the study room are intended for on-site loans only.

Reprographic services

In order to print or copy you need to charge your ISIC card with sufficient sum of money. It is possible to charge your ISIC card at the service desk in the study room and in the information centres or through coin automat in the corridor in front of the information centre in building A.

Money returning is possible in all study rooms and information centers, but keep in mind, that you must withdraw your money from card before you end your study course (the state final examination day) - account is deleted after that day, and there is nothing we can do.

Black and white print and copying is possible on self-service RICOH printers/copiers (multifunctional machines allowing printing as well as copying) in all study rooms of the Information Centre. Price: 1,50 CZK / A4 and 3 CZK / A3.

Color print is possible in the information centre (to format A3) and in the study room (to format A4). It costs 7 CZK / A4, 14 CZK / A3.
Color copying is possible in the information centre. Price: 7 CZK / A4, 14 CZK / A3.

Scanning is possible up to the format A3, it is a self service and cost free.

Ring book binding: the ring book binding machine is available in the study room, material for binding (ring back, front sheet, back cartoon) is selling by the library staff for:

  • A4 up to 20 mm - 15 CZK
  • A4 more than 22 mm - 26 CZK
  • A3 up to 20 mm - 26 CZK
  • A4 more than 22 mm - 37 CZK

Interlibrary loans services (ILL)

ILL secures lending of books and acquiring copies of magazines that are not available in Mendelu libraries or the Moravian Library in Brno. This service is provided to researchers and teachers as well as Ph.D. students at Mendelu in Brno.

ILL costs cover varies. MVS costs within the Czech Republic are settled by the Information Center, international ILL costs are charged to the Mendelu institutes.

For ILL applicants from different organizations we arrange lending of books or xerox copies of magazines available in Mendelu libraries.

Search services are provided to all researchers and teachers at Mendelu in Brno, as well as to Ph.D. students, and are free of charge. Literature search in databases can be ordered in person at the Information Searching Department or by e-mail, or by filling in an HTML form. Titles of the already executed literature searches are included in the online catalogue and their copies can be obtained at the department on request.
